First, I tell you that the China defence protect the preceived threats from
the US or terrorists, disunionists. We would not invade neighbours as the
USA do. The goal of China defence policy have confirmed it.

In fact we are reducing the military expense because we have many urgent
problems to be resolved, like economy development, education, environment
protection...

Russia and China all fear that the US would encircle us. If so we have no
too much freedom to protect our people. As you know, the US military often
spy China.

PS: Are you from TaiWan, Or like TaiWan£¿

XoBruce, you are a super post lover and warmhearted man. Thank you very
much.

Exactly the kind of blunt honesty that I so appreciate. No longer just reciting the 'Politically Correct' government line. Defined are three preceived fears - 1) terrorists, 2) USA, and 3) civil war (disunionists). Not the sort of response that a Politically Correct government official dares to admit. But simply a blunt opinion of why China needs it military.

Curious. Threats from Tiawan, VietNam, Russia, and Japan are not listed.

Are demonstrations against new government laws by one in eight citizens of Hong Kong also considered disunionists?

C'mon Billy, we haven't invaded Canada or Mexico in a long time. Maybe later.

We couldn't invade China because we'd run out of underwear.

In mainland we ignore the HongKongnese's strike in media. We think they should stand on a open point, not mainland people compite with them. They can have other good economy development if you work hard to find ways.

Billy, it sounds like you feel like Hong Kong is a seperate place with seperate problems and really has no effect on your life and problems/goals.
I think that would be a good attitude because comparing the two is very hard. There will be differences for a long time.

We are pround of HK, but HKnese look down on us. The look up on west people. They still think that mainland is a poor and undeveloped. We snatch their chances whith our development.

Expressed is the thinking necessary to create a Civil War. Both Hong Kong and Shanghai have good reason to look down upon the rest of China. These are the growth areas of China.

Reminds me, to a lesser degree, of the foolish, myopic, and introverted east coast Americans who mock California (CA) without realizing that what happens in CA ends up occuring in the east coast typically 5 to 10 years later. Thank goodness for the greater CA region and all their kooks. They are where America's growth is created - because they are kooky. It would be foolish to dislike Hong Kong and Shanghai only because they are pioneering your future.

WARNING-MOTHERS, don't let your children grow up to think like this.
