So back in pre-mortgage meltdown America 2004, they bought that over-priced house in a terrible school district. The drama continues as they live in a relatives once empty house in a different school district, while still making payments on the other and the Mrs. quit her gig, which was really stressful and travel heavy.

I go by negatives.

More than two negatives, and the decision goes in the subliminal hopper. If I forget about it...that much money saved. If I remember it, I either really want it, or I've found more positives, or eliminated more negatives.

Writing down expenditures (everyone of 'em, no matter how small) will allow you to see what you're spending. It's also depressing.

No one yet knows how this US Supreme Court
will decide the current cases of same-sex marriage.

But what do you think will be the ramifications if their decision
came down against same-sex marriages and/or adoptions ?

I found this relatively short Op-Ed today to be very thought-provoking.

About the Children

THE defenders of traditional marriage tell us the argument is, first and foremost, about the children.

So let’s talk about the children.

The stakes for children in this debate fall roughly into two categories.
One is legal: A great scaffolding of laws and benefits created to keep children secure and loved
is denied to children who grow up with parents of the same gender.
Can that be solved without letting same-sex couples marry?

The other is social: Researchers have attempted to ascertain whether kids who grow up
with two moms or two dads fare differently from kids growing up with one of each.
Is there any reason to think same-sex households are bad for children,
and if so should policy makers tread carefully?

I'd like to ask a bona fide opponent of same sex marriage who uses the "think of the children" justification about their thoughts on divorce.
