I'm fond of a good wheat beer. But I really haven't had any beer, except for maybe a couple at a party, in years. I've been strictly on the hard stuff.

I like a nice girly "flavored beer". It's not really beer at all, but that's what it says it is on the label. It's the cheese food product* of beer.

Ah no, here and in Europe (we're not really Europe you know) the beers aren't just flavoured. You can get really good tasting fruit beers and ales. I love them, and I don't really have a sweet tooth. Fruli is a gorgeous Belgian drink - 70% wheat beer, 30% strawberries. I can down the first pint (19.3 US ounces) in 10 minutes because it's such a thirst quencher. Six gulped pints later I remember it's 4.1%. Oops.

People go apeshit over Shiner and Fat Tire around here. Those two and Dos Equis are practically all you ever see. Is that stuff even available in other states?

Known as the "Little brewery in Shiner," the Spoetzl Brewery is an American brewery located in Shiner, Texas that is wholly owned by the Gambrinus Company. The brewery is most well known for producing Shiner Bock, a dark German/Czech-style beer that is now distributed in 41 states.

Quote:
New Belgium Brewing Company is a regional brewery located in Fort Collins, Colorado. In 2006, it produced approximately 436,000 barrels of its various labels. Fat Tire, an Amber ale, is the company's flagship beer.
Before 2006, New Belgium distributed in only 15 states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Colorado). In Spring 2006, the brewery began to distribute some of their beers in other markets. For example, bottles of Fat Tire distributed in Chicago claim "Chicago Inaugural: The 1st Fat Tire Ale served (legally) in the second city." In June of 2007 Fat Tire, Skinny Dip (New Belgium's Summer seasonal), 1554 and Mothership Organic Wit became available in Illinois in 6 packs of 12 ounce bottles. By the summer of 2007, New Belgium expanded distribution again to include select areas of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Minnesota metro area and Iowa. As of July 2008, Fat Tire is also served in Tennessee.

I found a pizza place here that serves good German beers.
I may not even pronounce what I drink, but I like German beer better than American beer anyway.

After three or four beers you sound like a German native speaker.

Ahfta dree or foah beiren du schound laich a ... Geutshe natiff schpeeker....

I wonder if there is a causal connection here...

(And I love the way this thread blends cellarite-identity swapping with beer. )

I'm still wondering why it's "If you had to be another dwellar" instead of "If you could be..." Are you running from something, footfootfoot?

Perhaps because if it was, "If you could be..." people would feel the need to justify the change. This way, you skip that part and get straight to the reason for the preference.

Or it's so people won't try to pull crap like "I don't want to be anyone else, I like me just fine."

But then this is the cellar, home of self loathing...

Cic, Pilau would return the compliment, but he's kind of attracted to being Pie....because he likes pies.

Beers. Oh I do like my beerlies. My favourites are ales. I may have already mentioned this half a dozen times ....stuff like Bishop's Finger, Fox's Nobb, or Old Speckled Hen. As a teen I rather liked Old Peculiar.....can't touch the stuff now, or Owd Roger.
