Question Star Wars Ep. II Questions (SPOILERS GALORE--YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!)

I'll say it again. There are spoilers. Though honestly, I can't believe anybody who actually cares hasn't seen the movie or otherwise learned about the plot by now.

Babysitters are so expensive.. jeez.. the wife & I don't get to the movies that often, usually on special occasions only. So we took advantage of my parents while we were staying with them to go out and see Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

It was about what I expected, based on reviews: It was mostly fun to watch, but ultimately nothing to write home about. I'm starting to think that those of us who were at a relatively young age when we saw the original Star Wars (I was 7) are now jaded beyond hope because nothing we see now could recreate the magical experience that Episode IV was at that time, at that age. (I know for a fact it was not the first movie I saw, but it was the first one that I remember.)

Anyway, I have two questions.

1. Near the end, when Yoda is fighting Count Dooku... Yoda uses The Schwartz to grab the big pillar-thing before it can crush Obi-Wan and Anakin, thereby allowing Dooku to escape. Now, after he grabs the pillar, Yoda pulls it back over toward himself. Why doesn't he just push it away, and then use it to hammer Dooku's ship??

2. When they're in the colosseum place, and they're supposed to be being eaten by the ugly monsters, and the monster takes a swipe at Amidala... how the heck does it manage to only take off such a small part of her outfit? You would think it would have removed more cloth. (My wife claimed that the leftover shirt part was smaller and smaller in each successive scene, but I didn't notice.)

3. Disbelief that just can't be suspended... Yeah yeah I know, Master Yoda, always clouded the future is, Hidden is much by the Dark Side... but... how can the Jedis possibly stand right next to Palpatine and not figure out that he's on the shady side? (It's unclear to me whether they now know that Dooku is a Sith Lord, or if they just think he's fighting over the separatist issue.)
