You heard it here first

A coworker of mine put forth a very interesting theory today at lunch. He believes that the Republican party is gearing up to dump Cheney for the second term, and declare John McCain as Bush's running mate this time around.

It would certainly be a brilliant move on their part, and would explain why McCain has stayed loyal to the party recently despite all the shit they've put him through.

Time will tell, the Republican National Convention is only another month or so away...

I'm a terrible middle of the road person. I'd vote for McCain.

I would love to see McCain as a candidate. The only problem I have is that Bush has a history of ignoring good advice. Unless McCain is willing to shoot Rumsfeld, Perle, and Wolfowitz, I'm not sure how much influence he will have.

That would be a brilliant maneuver. Blame his heart trouble. Stage an attack. Cheney is one of Bush's biggest liabilities and a bad influence. If it went down, I wonder if any of Dick's cronies would go too? I'd still vote for Kerry, but it would make me feel better just to have a better man than Cheney (or Bush) in the race.
