Don't know if I mentioned it... I was a bouncer/security/body-guard for clubs and concerts/talent for about three years while I was in college.
Ironically, I was a pacifist the whole time... my boss said that is why he liked me for the job.

i also worked as a bouncer (before i got the bartending gig). i should point out that at 5'8" and 150 lbs, i'm not exactly an imposing character. but nobody ever messed with me. they must have figured that if the bar was willing to hire such a small guy as a bouncer that i must be some kind of bad ass. it was kind of funny watching a drunk get up in my colleague's face. my colleague was 6'4 and a good 250 at the time. they'd be glaring eachother down and i would just waltz over and suggest to the drunk that he leave. it always resulted in a WTF? look and a double take - but they always turned around and walked out.

Yup, I agree... I never got in their face, just ask them to leave or help em' out.
I broke-up most fights with "Stop this now and let me buy you each a beer or let my colleagues and I show you out." Unless they were wasted... then it was just out, and quickly, into a cab.
