The veil isnot a religous symbol. It is an optional culteral symbol.

why ask me? I'm not a muslim.
ask the Islamic ladiies who insist on wearing the veil. Ask the primary school kids who see a pair of eyes peering out of midnight-black ensemble straight out of Friday the thirteenth....

Right, this has nothing to do with islam specifically or really anything besides the fact that the administrators think that it impedes the teaching process. Why complicate it further?

Because it wouldn't be much of a news story....no passion, no fury, no terrorists in the woodpile.

The only reason kids would think the veil etc is scarey is because we (western christians) live in a culture fraught with 'boogeymen' who're usually depicted as black ski mask wearing nasties.
If there weren't so many fairy stories and there was more fact in rearing a child, maybe things like this wouldn't be such an issue. I also don't think there's anything wrong with children learning about other faiths. This sort of practice breaks down barriers and removes the illusions created by fear mongering grown ups.

Well then the point has nothing to do with religion or kids being scared or any of the other points. Only to do with whether she can communicate properly or not.
