On the beer (which I am occasionally), is it true that in the USA there is a limit to the percentage of alcohol allowed in beer (I've heard 2.2% or something)?

If so, my sympathies.

A microbrewery about 10 miles from me makes something called Lobotomy Bock that is 10.8%

Yes. If there is less than 2.2% it cannot be called beer.

Meet Victory Brewing Co's "Twelve". 12% abv.

It will Fuck You Up. And it will be Mighty Tasty while it does!

Ah, a minimum strength. A much better idea.

12! Dats some strong stuff!

Beers here range from "light" <2%, through "mid-strength" 2-4%, to "full bodied" 4+%. Most are in the 4.5 to 6% range, although Coopers Vintage is a very drinkable 7.5%.

AFAIK this is not true.

But some places have a limit on what % is allowed to be sold in grocery stores and such. The stronger ones are available, but only in liquor stores along with the hard stuff.

About 2/3rds of American beer drinkers prefer the standard American lager, while the rest of us say that's like sex in a canoe, and drink heartier, bigger-tasting stuff.

The ever-popular Bud family:

5.0% Budweiser
5.0% Bud Dry
4.2% Bud Light
5.5% Bud Ice
4.1% Bud Ice Light
4.3% Bud Select
4.2% Busch Light

Sex in a canoe? Um.....

Anyway, when I think of Australian beer, the first thing that comes to mind is Foster's. Which isn't bad, but I suspect there's better stuff out there.

I'll drink Bud usually, but if I want to splurge I go for something like Newcastle or Michelob Amber Bock.

Pilau is the obvious choice here, I think. Those snausages sound awesome! (and the tarts)

I don't think it's nice of you to call DanaC a tart. Hmmph.

Just kiddin' guys!

Actually, I was thinking it would be cool to be Dana as a "who would you be" option. And I like Cic, too...she's fun.

Oh hell, I want to be pieces of all of you.

fosters is the stuff we sell to you lot in the US. Not too many aussies will touch it with a barge pole...unless they're really desperate. For example, if that's all that's left in the esky.

Where the F are you Homber?
we have Budweiser der konig auf beers which is, despite it's clarity, 5.5% and some of the nutkins drink Spaten which is 7.6% and then there is Samichlaus which is 14%.
But in Utah all bets are off...

speaking of beer

I like the wheat beers/flavored fancy pumpkin ale and apple cider beer if I am going to drink one.

There is an american beer that is black ale. It's quite a stout one I can't remember the name. I don't drink that one because I am a light weight.

I can't stand Fosters and Guinness and bud.

Corona tastes like a Miller of which I like along with Michelob.

I can't tolerate beers much because of the yeast. The yeast gives me a headache right off.
