Only known gill here. As a measurement I mean.
I've seen jill used as a term for girl though.

I've decided not to play fast and loose with the children I know who have nouns as names.
Ocean, Breeze, Storm, Harbour, Fox etc
Trying to think more of names with other meanings. In English.

i take back Hope, as it were -too easy. girls are named afterthings more often I think.... (like flowers and virtues)

True. I wanted Felicity but it seems a cop-out.

by "here" do you mean personally? because it's in the Oxford (among other dictionaries) and i've been plsying it in Scrabble since I could pull tiles from a bag.

But it is also a device used to protect female hockey players from cunt-pucks. (not given as a definition in the dictionary, though)
