True control freaks would have just banned everybody.

I'm going back in. The idea is to ignore unfriendly/indirect statements completely and stay in character.

Do not be baited in any way.

You're right on mark.

It's almost impossible to get banned there. The admins are completely ignoring you... I don't think ANY of them have posted in your thread. There are only three rules.

Also, if the folks here can avoid viewing the folks there as a hivemind, and keep in mind that 90% of the time we don't agree with each other, it will make for a smoother mission. I assume it's pretty much the same way here? There's no real power hierarchy, and nobody represents anyone. It's pretty much unmodded.

Yeah, that would be a most excellent option.

When they came here... make that when some of them came here... I read each post carefully because an email address of "@spamcorptastic.com" made me wonder what they were up to. It was clear they were going out of their way to avoid confrontation, and carefully sidestepping remarks from us that would have prompted several smartass replies had it been the other way round. I'm sure they are just as suspicious and some may not even be aware some of their group have been here.

Keep in mind, not everyone is into star trek, also. Play nice.

I missed this whole deal.

Is anyone a tribble? That would be the only thing I would know to be...I could just roll around and chortle a lot.

Then more baiting:

Srsly how is this baiting? It is a real word with a hyphen, it was supposed to be funny. I never said anything personal or insulting and I was not baiting anyone. I know how to flame and bait and I am good at it but I have not done that on a forum in years. Time for a humor check to see if that culture even has a sense of humor.

The posts that they're most pissed off about seem to be some of the funniest ones, by our standards ...

They also seem to curse a lot more than we do here.

Is this how Brits feel when they come to America for a visit?

We swear up a blue streak, and yeah, by PD standards, jokes about underendowed nerds, being gay, and not having any women fall under the "sixth grade stupid-ass humor" category. Fart jokes are generally considered funnier than "UR a ghey nrd and U has no gurrrrlz!" type "jokes".

Every place has their own senses of humor. What Cellar guys think is funny is based on a culture that has grown here.

Some of the PD humor will probably be baffling or unrecognizable to you. The legislator's office, prolapse, furbies, Arial, and starting a pention may all be mentioned and may not even seem like jokes. If you read something that appears to make no sense at all, it's probably a joke.

The new team seems to be off to a good start... hopefully it'll go well today!

Those of you who hate the avatar and sig images, you can simply turn them off in Preferences. I like the avatars because they help me keep track of people, but I usually turn off sig images.

Keeping track of people can be a challenge because users can change their handles at will in their user CP.

Someone mentioned knowing about Discordianism because of being a RAW fan. RAW was also a fan of Discordianism, but he's a somewhat controversial figure in Discordia because a lot of people... OK wait, I'm not going to try to explain this. Uncle Bob is mostly liked, but also mostly not considered representative of Discordia.

Last but not least, Mole? Explain pls.

Lot's of jokes aren't that funny to some people.... getting all rabid crazy pissed off by something that's obviously meant to be humorous is funny... in a we're-laughing-at-you-not-with-you kind of way. That's what happened there...

Giving yourselves style point for how you visit another site en mass, and telling other people ur doin it rong.... also funny.

Stomping around our chat room like drunken assholes... funny the first time.

well. let's have another go, but read this first:

Trust me, we've been mass-banned from plenty of forums, and it's EASY to have a Safari degenerate into insults... after all, you're invading another place, with regulars who will quip and wisecrack at you, and it seems like they're attacking but if you do it RIGHT you can stay in character, smooth it over, start picking up on their humor, and stick around... maybe even make friends.

It's the Safari, as an invasion, who has to play it cool. That's what makes the whole concept fun.

You want to troll? Troll. But if you're going to miss the whole point of the Safari concept, why even bother?
