That's OK. I've never met a smart conservative. Scratch one deep enough and it's the same selfishness inside every one of 'em. Put your republinders back on.

The deep south ends at the Florida border. You do not live in the deep south.

Florida is New York State, but with Bermuda shorts and a light jacket in February.

Selfishness??? Spexx, dear boy, you are without experience of William F. Buckley. You aren't going to find selfishness in that guy, nor stupidity. And then there are the right-of-center guys who can keep up with him.

And your first remark was utterly unworthy of reply. Resist the temptation to declare yourself a schmuck, okay?

True... if you are not a multi-millionaire you are voting against your interests... just stupid. Neo-cons, mean to boot.

As long as people are content with catagorizing themselves into these impossibly monolithic groups, and de-humanizing those who are "against" them, we will keep getting bamboozled by the us-versus-them politics of boogeyman-ism. The "two-party system" has become a one-party (divide and conquer) system.

...
Does this sound liberal or conservative?:

"don't tax me. More money in my pocket"
"I shouldn't have to pay for other people's welfare, social security, or medicare. More money in my pocket"
"don't regulate my business - I want all the profits, and if my employees get hurt or sick, or if residents around my factory suffer, I don't care, as long as I'm raking in the dough"
"there shouldn't be a minimum wage - if I can get away with paying someone to work for $1.00/hour, I should be allowed to. More in my pocket."
"illegal immigration is great! Those wetbacks work for just about nothing. More money in my pocket"

Sometimes his behavior is a little too unbelievable. This being the Internet, I'm still not sure that UG isn't the alter ego of another Cellarite. It would be pretty funny if at the end of the year TW confessed that he made him up, or better yet, Marichiko.

Some political theory history for everyone:
The neocons primary theoretical antecendent is Leo Strauss, a Trotskyite. Irving Kristol called the neoconservatives, "Socialists who just got mugged." More generally, they're welfare-staters (whether it be personal welfare or corporate) who supported Reagan during the Cold War and they're primarily defined by their foreign policy stances (specifically pre-emptive 'Big Stick'/military action over diplomacy) rather than domestic ones.
Also, they're mostly assholes. They're the ones that make shit up to get their way in government, (e.g., the OSP [Doug Feith's group] in the Pentagon and the current Pentagonian Iran Working Group [and if you don't believe they're trying to get us into Iran, despite the failures in Iraq, you're fooling yourself]).
So, for all you 'liberal haters' out there, be aware of how you label yourselves.

People will label your labels!

And then others will label the label-labelers!
