this also touches upon another question which we discussed here recently, with regard to Mel Gibson, I believe. How much of the artist's perception and experience should the experiencer impute? That is, if you dislike the artist's personal views, should you boycott the art?

Absolutely. It is the American way. But should you boycott it to the point where you get broadcasters or other distributors of the "art" to pull it from the public domain? That is a bigger question. In that case I say no. If you don't like it turn it off, change it, don't go see it. But don't screw with other people. Same argument could then be made concerning "art" which is funded by tax payer dollars and how much money should be expended and how much control special interest groups with a big mouth were expected to effect the general publics ability to view "art" in the public domain. Whole nother ball of wax. Which lead to political correctness which I cannot tolerate.

Plenty of good art comes from "complex" individuals, perhaps "tortured souls" or maybe even "bad people" whose redeeming qualities are channeled through their work. In the field of music, we would hardly be able to listen to anything, if we boycotted people based on personal flaws.
