If I recall, there was a fee for Phi Beta Kappa, but it was nominal. I doubt it covered the cost of the pre-ceremony dinner and the small scholarship they sponsored.

Yea, and people know what PBK is when you put it on your resume. Obviously no one has heard of the magic golden key club. Sounds like a Playboy Club Key from the 70's.

Meh. Maybe it's helpful for your resume on the first job hunt out of school. In general though, I don't think it (or any other college achievement other than the degree itself) is worth listing on your resume. Who cares?

(Having said that, yes, I still have the key.)

Well, I used to put Phi Theta Kappa (that's for 2-year degrees) on my resumes. It was about the only thing I did in college, besides go there every day. Well, almost every day.

That was a long time ago and it's kind of a blur. I remember being totally baffled why they'd want me. If they gave me a key I lost it. I carried the little ID card for a while, but I have no idea where it went.

Yeah, I took college Real Seriously back in the 80's.
