Eh, I guess it could not be true, but it could be as well. Its not like the idea that my blood type might make more partial to meat is really gonna affect me. I'm not changing my diet to eat more meat, still trying to increase my veggie intake.

It is probably from "eat right for your type" interesting read. some of it rang true for me anecdotally. A lot of people think he's full of BS. But he says O type descend from hunter gatherers and is the oldest blood type on the planet. Other blood types evolved later in human history along with the advent of agriculture and other gastronomic milestones. Interesting. Rigorously scientific? Probably not, but then who knows anything about human nutrition?

My Mum bought that book. I told her off. I said in future she had to ask me to vet a diet (no pun intended) before she spent money on it.

Poor Mum - believes in fad diets and has a patronising daughter.

MTP do let us know when you have some news. The place you suggested looks really good, but of course I can't speak from first hand knowledge!

Might, very big might, be able to on Sun, she's tryin to get the day off.

SG-I don't really know if its a fad diet or what. But I am always interested in nutritional info (no matter how unreliable) and everyone's body works differently and processes foods a bit differently. So to me it makes sense that something like your blood could affect your dietary needs. After all the food you eat does get absorbed into the body/blood. I've even seen literature (again I can't remember where) that talks about how dif. body types need to cut out dif. foods for the best results. For me I gain weight first in my tummy area so the suggestion was to lower my carb intake, I did and the results were faster than just switching to low calorie. Of course I work at a bread store, so that lasted maybe 4 wks.

Edit: Everything in moderation is my main motto. Especially diets.

Suggest you take a biology course, just for shits and grins if nothing else. Bodies work alarminlgy similarly, they are just built differently.

Then at least you'll have a filter for bollox diets.

Took Biology and the follow up Biology AP course. Had the highest grade the whole year. The don't all work the same, that's why some people have chemical imbalances, poor immune systems, vitamin deficiencies ect ect. Its not all understood. I have a very good filter for bollox diets, like I said everything in moderation. I'll never go on the Atkins diet. My dieting usually consists of me trying to cut down my enormous sugar intake and add in more vegetables. Those are the two areas I fail miserably in responsible eating.

Didn't you tell us you slept through that course?

But you might add in a bit of philosophy. "They don't all work the same" is very different from "They all work differently". I think that's where Monster is coming from.

"Everything in moderation." So, does that include moderation itself? Does being moderately moderate oblige you to - just occasionally - go to excess?
I doubt it stands up to thorough scrutiny, but it's a handy excuse to get rat-arsed drunk three times a year. After the fourth drink it makes perfect sense.

Yes I did, but whereas everyone else in my class struggled to pass my AP course (means college level for HS btw) I had no problem getting an A. I'm not bragging, she is the one who brought it up.

Essential the same, but if it helps thats what I meant. I guess we could go with "They all work slightly different. I know they're set up to work the same (unless you have some issue) and they go through the same process, produce the same types of chemicals/hormones depending on gender. The differences occur in amounts. Katie's body had a higher metabolism so she burned through more calories than I did. So whereas she hardly paid attention to her diet and I usually ate decently, and was more physically active, I still weighed 20lbs more than her, despite being about the same height. Things like that.

Next time I need an excuse for my late night drunkenness I'm calling you. I do occasionally go to excess, but I am human after all.

I also accept that different bodies work differently. My immediate reaction against it was there are more differences that can be explained by a handful of blood types

Not connected to the above, purely anecdotal - before carbs became teh debbil, I started on the first of many diets. What I found was that my body survives very well on carbs. It loves them. It says nom nom nom and loses weight. I lost nearly 40lb in 10 weeks on a carb-high diet - cornflakes, bagels, potatoes, fruit and pasta featured highly. It's been my diet model ever since and it works well for me when I stick to it. My head is the thing that needs sorting, not my body - if I had a healthy attitude towards food I'd never have to diet again, I'd just have to eat and enjoy it. Sigh.

Seeing the nasty cheese fries in the WTF thread last night made me crave chips & cheese (our version). Thinking about vegan food in this thread is making me crave a lentil heavy vegetable stew! I must hang out here more often. And no, I don't pronounce that orphan.

Sundae, when you start a diet do you usually also start more physical exercise, such as walking? Carbs are great for you if you're using them.

In college a friend went to Italy for the summer, to learn Italian. She left a bit chunky and came back skinny-minny. She said she ate the heck out of some pasta, but walking all the hills in town she burned them right up and lost weight, easily.

I need the "I'm going to Italy" diet! Plus, all the sex I'll have with sexy Italian men will add up, too.
