You should be able to add your old post count to your new name. After all, you are the same person (I think).

None.

Then you'd have to transfer the join date, posts started, threads started, groups started, friends, visitors ... etc.

I'm a member of an entertainer's forum that gets around all this by allowing members to change their display names up to once a month (everyone logs in under their original username) as easily as we change user titles here. It can be fun and amusing; but, is better suited to superfluous entertainment forums. It can be confusing and easily abused when the going gets serious (even when display name histories are available through user controls).

Here, a display name change should be more important to the user, for whatever reason, than any of the aforementioned [1st paragraph] considerations before it is effected.

Been there, done that: congratulations Pete.

I guess it's time to tell everyone that my handle is also a fictitious name. My real name is Gustav Thunderclap.

Rich Levy is just a name I picked. It sounds like 'riccilevy' which is Icelandic for "the cows are trampling the chickens'.

That's only the most recent of many incidents. The dar512 handle seemed to confuse a lot of people. I originally came here for the pic of the day - pointed here by slashdot, I think. If I'd known I was actually going to participate, I might have given more thought to my handle.

But I'd have still left it alone if I hadn't run across the the Pete Zicato pun in one of the song interludes they do on Car Talk a while ago. I'm the sort who laughs at the credits at the end of Car Talk and Prairie Home Companion. ex. Car Talk's Russian limosine service is by Pikup Andropov.

So...I guess this means we can't quiz the newb? I guess I'll hold off on the newb bashing spree I was entertaining.

Hello Pete!
