Three days ! One day for fish or seafood or a week for those packaged deli slices like turkey.
I've let deli turkey go ten days or so and lived to tell the tale. In college I had a roommate who didn't even put stuff in the fridge. It would it around on the counter for god nows how many days and then she'd eat it. YUCK! I never saw her get sick, though. Maybe it was the dry Colorado air.

My Dad was immune to food poisoning. He wouldn't let us throw anything away. Sausage gone mouldy? Just cut off the mouldy bit and cook...naturally, we wouldn't eat it...but he did.

*slight shudder*

Uncooked Kidney beans? He'd eat them raw whilst cooking.
