The airport tried to convince the pilot to use one of three alternate airports, but the pilot chose to land there. I sure there was pressure on both the airport, and the pilot, not to be responsible for fucking up the scheduled events.

The fog probably had fluoride in it and that must have jammed the CRM114 Discriminator...

This reminds me of the joke from when Michael Jackson was at the height of his popularity. It invloved the news headline for when the world was going to end the next day.
The head line read:

"World comes to an end. Michael Jackson and 6 billion others killed".
