AFAIK, the Jews are the only major religion that make it extremely hard to convert, and don't really want converts at all.

My Hebrew neighbor was horrified that I knew about needing virtually two kitchens to keep truly kosher, and burying cutlery in the dirt if there was a "breech in security", as it were. Not sure why, though. it's not a state secret. tbh I think she has a problem reconciling the strict rules of her familial culture with her generally hippy and modern outlook on life. But if there was ever a chance to attempt to convert, that was it and she shied like a pony ridden by Medusa.

Jews are "The Chosen People". When you're chosen and there are limited spaces, you don't go appealing for other people to be allowed on the ride unless they are seriously special.... You really do have to be born Jewish.

I think the Judiasm "ads" are there (a) for the reasons bruce stated and (b) to raise awareness of Judaism and to present an open front to minimise the jews becoming the next muslims......

Simply put, many ideas, especially religions, are mind viruses that spread from one victim to another, and take control of the new victim's brain and cause them to try to spread the virus further. Religion-memes are especially good at doing this.
