The joystick for my Vic20 really was. It was an early 'Quickshot'. Outlived the computer by about a decade :p

It came with switches, so you could choose how much to boost the memory: you could take it up to 5k, 8k, 12k or 16k, I think. If you switched it to a higher level than was needed it wouldnt always work.

And if you wanted to save something you had to use a cassette recorder!
