Don't know if I've mentioned this elsewhere, but Fox are apparently remaking Luther.
I don't really understand why they would want to do that. The whole thing with Luther is that it's a British take on an American drama staple - the maverick, troubled cop who uses unorthodox methods and butts up against authority and his own sense of guilt. If they remake it it'll be an American take on a British take on an American drama staple. Find it really hard to see how the character of Luther would still be Luther with anyone but Idris Elba.

The vampire in Being Human is now in the remake of Poldark.
(Sorry, I mean the actor Aiden Turner. Not having a TV means I'm a bit insouciant about the fact it's a real job)

It's alreadybeen announced that he will not be playing the part - I think he may be an executive producer on the project. The original writer is writing it. It may turn out to be really good - I just don't see the need for it. There isn't a shortage of morally compromised, but good bloke, maverick cops on US TV.
I didn't much see the need for the Broadchurch remake either - that was a British take on the nordic style crime drama - so Gracepoint was an American take on the British take on nordic crime dramas. They could have just done an original story that also drew from that style. They could even have kept the same core plot (child is killed and the ensuing investigation tears open the families and wider community - local cop with outsider coming in etc), but explored it in different ways with an original set of characters and a very different story. Being Human was a great example of a remake that, whilst when it was announced sounded pointless, but when executed turned out to add to the original story in really interesting ways - it told a story that was similar and had almost the same start point but then went spinning off in their own direction to do something original. They took the basic premise and did their own thing with it. Gracepoint is the exact opposite of that. I fear Luther might be too.

Apparently, NBC is planning a remake of a little BBC3 comedy, Cuckoo.
Girl takes a gap year, family arrive at airport to meet her on her return and she appears with her new husband - Cuckoo. I recommend the original - and am intrigued to see what NBC do with the idea.

Oh! I was browsing on my phone, and couldn't watch the video, only see the thumbnail still. And I assumed it must be a British actor, surely it must be, so I must be hallucinating the resemblance to Andy Samberg.
So in the second series they just put in a new actor and pretended it had been him the entire time? |

I haven't seen the second series yet. It's on my catch up list from when I had no free time.
I think he's a different character not a different actor in same role. But he replaces Cuckoo in terms of his function on the show. Iirc, they scoot forward a cople of years, Cuckoo is dead, and the new guy is Cuckoo's son come over from America. Not sure what happens with the daughter.

I'd like to know... which came first "The Big Bang Theory" or "The Imitation Game" ?
Last night we rented "The Imitation Game" on Comcast. One thing for sure, it is not a documentary Unfortunately for me, I had already read "Collosus" by Jack Colement, and I was expecting some sort of replay of that storyline. Instead, it was "Big Bang Theory" without the soundtrack. It wasn't just the physical similarities to the real "codebreakers" Leonard, Penny, Amy and Howard were also major players in the movie Seriously,... which came first "The Big Bang Theory" or "The Imitation Game" ? . |

Imitation Game came out in 2014 - but there was a teleplay in the 80s.
