Emrikol - Parents feel like they need to keep raising you - long past the age at which you no longer need parenting.

I second Beestie here. Get yourself a little apartment and get out. And tell your dad thanks but no thanks. At that point you can tell your dad to stfu (but nicely). You will feel much better for it. And he will likely feel relieved too (after a bit).

The main thing to remember is that your parent's opinion of you is not who you are.

can you believe this shit? one of my good students, a real angel, was killed by her father in a triple homicide this weekend. the guy shot his wife and two kids and then torched the place, i guess. the story gets worse every time new info comes out. for some reason our principal had to i.d. her body, and i got a phone message sat. nite after a carefree romantic dinner and cocktails with maureen. hard friggin times in east hartford. teaching macbeth til christmas. praise allah, buddha, and jesus for our gentle family. me, at best i make like the '03 reds in august and play out the goddamn string. you, strap it on if you're gonna do this job 'cause right now it kind of sucks. so i'll grind it out - do the little things, move the runner over - until the holidays. be prepared to consult the barley oracle...
