I'd like it nipped in the bud from the Hannity/Limbaugh types before I start hearing it from everyday folks. But there is an organized effort to promote the idea, and I suspect it will start coming from the rank and file soon.

We got the memo like six months ago. It takes a lot of time to carefully craft the message to make it look like a grassroots movement. I think we're looking a Tuesday next for a launch, but that may be pushed back by the whole Schiavo thing.

Oh, like that. Lame.
I promise not to turn this into another one of "those" threads, but I only have four words for you.

Mitchell got his job back, but he can't teach in the history department anymore, despite glowing reviews throughout his entire career. No one was able to give a good reason for his firing, other than what he proposed -- discrimination against his worldview. Churchill is getting a fat check. From the same university. You don't see a problem?

What's the fat check? Last I heard, they were looking for ways to get around the tenure. But I don't keep up with the case.

have to ask HM - have you heard that from everyday folks who hold fairly conservative outlooks or is that just from the Hannity/Limbaugh types?
Here's another. I guess you could say that Florida Republican congressmen are Hannity/Limbaugh types, but if so, there is no reason to use the word "just".

As for Hollywood celebrities, I believe that they are WAY too highly thought of. Most of them are knobs and I can't understand why people actually listen to them...

So far I have met:

Jean Beliveau- very classy, approachable. I didn't chat too much as it was at a funeral.

Melissa Auf Der Maur- Very nice, fairly serene. Didn't chat with her too much, tho.

Courtney Love- Came to a funeral completely fucked. So fucked she could barely walk, and it was the funeral for a band-member's father, and it was 11:00 AM. What a douche-bag. She is so far down the ladder of human being that I can't believe she gets airtime. I wish she would put a paper bag over her head and save the world some oxygen.

Chris Murray (Mtl Canadien)- very down-to-earth. I was working at a parkade in Montreal and he and his wife showed up. I had no idea who he was, and his wife was flabbergasted, but he was really cool. No snottiness whatsoever. BTW his wife was absolutely stunning. And just as easy-going. I think they were relieved not to get molested by a Canadiens fan.

Santana- I saw Santana in Vermont in '92 and about 30 minutes before the show, we realized that this guy who ambled out of the crowd to chat with two guys about 20 feet away was Carlos himself. Very cool. He had spent the last 40 minutes walking around and we were already so toasted we didn't really pay attention.

Rob Lowe- Very cool guy, didn't seem to mind my wife fogging up his eyeballs. We chatted outside his set for about 10 minutes, and he was pretty calm, cool, an collected.

Lucien Bouchard- had to greet him at the door while working at a funeral home. Although I feel the man should be shot for treason, I had to be nice to him, and he was fairly polite.
