There was a DVD rerelease of it last year which includes some good behind the scenes type info in the extras. The star is Robert Duvall, and Donald Plesance is also featured. I think you'll like it, given some of your other choices.
I believe THX-1138 was also the license plate on the yellow coupe in American Graffiti.

And don't forget THX, Lucas' advanced sound specification.

I don't sink zis word means what you sink it means.

Princess Bride is a great movie, but it is not a sleeper. It did well at the box office IIRC and is #115 on IMDB.

I just finished watching the Station Agent. It was pretty good. The ending was a bit disappointing, but didn't ruin it for me.

American Psycho is as good as I remember it being. Still not as good as the book, but it caught enough of the flavor of it to work.

I never saw it in the theater nor did I even realize it had hit the theaters. When I saw it almost 15 years ago, it was a video rental at a friends house. I had never heard of it before. I am very much aware of what sleeper means my bass playing friend. To me personally, it was a sleeeper.

The Gods Must Be Crazy. Everything about it rocks, from the casting to the Keystone Kops sped-up chase sequences. The sequel's not as good, but still captures the charm of the original.

edit -- Just read my sig line -- The Adventures of Baron Munchausen was good too

Thumbs up

Pass the Ammo. A little something for Tim Curry fans that isn't Rocky Horror Picture Show or Clue. He plays an evil televangelist -- who gets jacked up in his own studio by two smalltime bandits (one of whom has such a taste for Moon Pies that he looks like the butterscotch variety -- no shit) whose grandmother he's bilked of her savings and they've come to repossess. Wackiness ensues, with pregnancy, TV special effects, and an 81mm mortar.

Without A Paddle- hilarious.
Sin City- just watched it last night- amaaaaazing cinematography. Mickey Rourke dragging that guy by the face was the best scene ever made.
