So now that I'm not immersed in endless studying for the next week or so, should I be watching this series? I've promised myself I'll take a week off, then I'll have a few days post-surgery at the end of the month when I can watch stuff without guilt.

Absolutely! It's actually best to watch it all in a row, because they don't always hold your hand, reminding you of the significance of this or that, and if you're watching it in a marathon, you might remember more.
