Not at his age.
And I'm still hoping the best is yet to come. I am on the ascendant!

We've already established that you, madam, are a cockeyed optimist.

Ah but I know 17 was better than 16, and 22 was better than them both put together :p

When was the last time you had a whole summer off, no pressure, no obligations, free?

When I was 12...I had a summer job at 13.

But, still...get to the farm at O'Dark Early, be at the municipal swimming pool by noon. By bicycle or by moped...I was free!

Ahhh...good times.

Do you think teenagers are more worldly than we were? Technology makes it seem so.

Like Shawnee, my last real summer of freedom was younger than Ibs is now. And when I was 17 I was allowed more freedom and (in my case) no longer had to worry about exams.

And when I was 22 I'd already started to address some of my issues of low self esteem and confusion that plagued my teens.

I've pretty much liked every age I've been - if they've been shitty years it's not been because of my age, but because of external issues. But from 16 until about 24 things just got better and better.

I think when the hormones start to flow, it's all down hill from there. Not that it's all bad, but unlike a roller coaster, I don't look forward to the next plunge.

If I weren't so tired today I'd photoshop Teenage Dwellar into a Starfleet Cadet uniform.
