How can I center the display on the currently playing song in iTunes, when it is .... somewhere else in the playlist without interrupting the song?

Truly a simple question but a difficult answer. Before concerning yourself with centering your display you must take time to center yourself. Then and only then will you be ready for the truth of your display: There is no display.

After almost 50 years of it not working, why does my mom still try to guilt all of her kids into doing something we won't do? You'de think after a few decades she'd try another approach... but no... guilt trip every phone call...

Most likely your mother was trained into this behavior by seeing it work with her own mother. Through the decades it has become second nature to her, to the point that she doesn't even realize she is doing it. It is who she is. The question that you must ask yourself is after all these years, how much longer are you going to expect your mother to become someone she is not?

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

I think it was Da Vinci who observed the light-scattering properties of the atmosphere...
...and painted the backgrounds of his paintings increasingly blue-ish the further the distance away (more atmosphere between observer and object).
