I think Sheen is a smart guy who lacks social skills, and has bad ideas politically. Together, that can add up to some pretty awkward interviews.

Well, and the skills of the interviewer come into play as well. The King: Johnny Carson, could interview anyone and be funny without being disrespectful. He made people look good.

Leno is a lousy interviewer. The forcedness and the fake laugh...it's painful to watch. Letterman is only slightly better; he fares better if the interviewee happens to be good at the game. Craig Ferguson has the intelligence and insight to get a good interview out of just about anyone.

Remember when Barbara Walters thought she was a respected interviewer? I saw a clip where she was interviewing Johnny Carson and he gave her a sly shot about "what kind of tree am I? You're not going to ask me that are you? Are you kidding?"

Larry King has got to be up there with the worst... he used to brag that he never actually read the guest's book or anything like that.

I always liked the way David Letterman takes charge of the conversation. You can't steer in a different direction than where he wants to go.

Unless you're Madonna.

I remember the days when Letterman's favorite guest was Teri Garr. They really worked comedy well together.

I wasn't sure if you meant actresses playing parts or news commentators.

Mika Brzezinski is pretty hot. The fact that she talks about doing shots of vodka just adds bonus points.

Rachel Maddow is sort of cute in the k.d. lang, androgynous lesbian kind of way.

Of course, the conservatives have their babes.

This leads to the Babe Theory of Political Movements, which states that either through cause (guys follow babes) or effect (babes follow trends), the majority of babes indicates the success of a movement.

The conservative guy claims that conservative women are hotter, (not counting Hollywood). Of course he seems to have overlooked the sea of liberal college babes in the Obama camp.

So, while smart and sexy female fictional, it's the real smart and sexy female characters that are going to be making the big difference in the next few months.

Martin Sheen is not a smart guy, but he plays one on TV. True of many other people also.

I find Tina Fey attractive, but I wouldn't consider her past writing as evidence of her intelligence. She was a writer for SNL during the most cringe worthy and least funny period of its existence.

... where Weekend Update was one of the few redeeming segments on the show, which she wrote and anchored.

You will all be happy, I'm sure, to know that Dr. Cuddy has been placed at number 4 on Cracked's List of Most Gratuitously Cleavaged Women on TV.
