It's hard to change a product name once it's established. But I suspect these days the people who order a diet coke with a big mac and large fries are not doing so to reduce the calorific content of their meal. But I guess I can concede that the name is ironic in that context.

We will have truly made progress when they develop the Diet Big Mac and Diet Fries with a combined caloric count of 100.

I just love the idea of having such a product regardless of the calories, though it would be a nice intro for the next product Big Mac Zero. We will once again be the nation that everyone looks to for inspiration.
