Ooh, the weight/perception topic. I always find this interesting.
Recently I started making a concerted effort to lose some weight. Over 2 months I managed to lose about 29 lbs so far. Now, I had not intended to make this an experiment on human perception, but you would think I had, as now, almost everyone I interract with already acts differently toward me. But also, my attitude has certainly undergone revision as a result of my weight loss. Now, then my question is: Are they really reacting different to me because of my change in weight, or are they reacting to my change in attitude? Interesting thought. Is it the weight that matters, or the self attitude? Or might it be a combination of both? Case |

Honestly, though, I suspect its more about your attitude / body language. You're carrying yourself better, which is partly an effect of the weight loss, but more because your self-image is stronger.

Hmmm interesting discussion (that I certainly never intended to start indirectly!

I could be totally wrong, but women's magazines tend to have women that are overall stick-thin. Male reading rags have chicks with huge tits n asses, who are probably consequently a little thicker. Of course, everyone carries the weight differently. Shit - totally just got busted by my editor dickin around here ... |

This is one of the reasons I like having an office, not a cubicle. I can shut the door and take a nap if I want, and the browsing is basically unmonitored.

I'm working on a big package about clean energy - namely wind and hydrogen power. Biggest wind farm in PA was just opened up in Scranton, largest farm (currently operating) east of the Mississppi. Apparently there are hydrogen fuel cell development labs littered throughout the Philly region - some of the largest worldwide. And with Energy shit going on in capitol hill, has some timely significance too. |

As of Friday I will be living within farting distance of Scranton...I can check it out for ya. Just tell me where to look and what you want. I got no press credentials, but I'm thorough and nosy. When I want to be that is. Plus I can offer the local take on it. You know, the human interest stuff like who'se farm went under and who is mad because of the truck trafic and so forth.

Good discussions of alternative energy always at USS Clueless, here for example.
The gent is an engineer, although he has a communications background. But he does put a lot of thought into his pieces. That piece suggests you should ask the people in Scranton whether they think they'll kill birds, and whether they can help with the usage peaks on hot summer afternoons. And what the price is per kwh compared to other sources. |

Windmills kill a small number of birds compared to the shit that pollutes our planet from coal burning or nuclear plants.
Pricing is now competitive with regular sources, and will only become cheaper as it grows. 0.01% of national energy is wind. 2% overall is clean energy sources. Actually, farmers in midwest plains are making upwards of $10k per month (and more) for turbine placement. And it doesn't affect crop grwoth at all. FUCK YEAH - I just got invited to try a new military combat flight simulator. Centrifuge that can spin up to 7 Gs. THat's cool as shit. |
