Post your offensive words here, bitch!
I have noticed lately that certain members of this community find themselves offended by words. This represents a significant disadvantage to these individuals, when we consider that this is largely a text-based community.
So how can we, as a caring and sensitive community, protect the more sensitive among us from being carelessly offended by some word or idea that may intrude upon their consciousness, while at the same time embracing the principals of diversity and inclusiveness that are hallmarks of the Cellar? Some witty individuals have suggested that the best prophylactic against being offended by words would be to refrain from reading. I applaud these individuals' efforts to protect the delicate sensibilities of out weaker members; however, I can't help but believe that this solution would necessarily limit their ability to participate fully in our community, and may leave them feeling unvalued and unincluded. Clearly, another solution must be found. I would suggest that, henceforward, all potentially offensive words be posted in this thread, rather than sprinkled randomly about the Cellar. A link to the offending word could be substituted in the body of the text, rather than including the word itself. This will allow those among us with more... mmmm... flamboyant vocabularies to continue to express themselves freely, while at the same time protecting our less intellectually robust members from needless pain and suffering. Here is a partial list of words that I find offensive: Oprah Socialism Dallas Cowboys Sarbanes China April Value Added Tax disrepect (when used as a verb) multiculturalism Southern Poverty Law Center Undocumented immigrants (when used to refer to illegal aliens) Weapons of Mass Destruction revenue enhancement I would appreciate it if others would refrain from using these words in future posts. Thank you.
