I remember your recommending that last time. The only Brazilian BBQ we were able to get to was the one in the Aladdin and it was so close to closing that the experience wasn't $100.

BTW, the price is closer to $35 for the rodizio according to this.

For the same price I can hit the Rio's Village Seafood Buffet and get all the lobster tails I want (small Danish variety).

I personally like rodizio, but my wife has taken a 'been there, done that' attitude.

New Vegas Links

I ran across these while fact checking my last post.

Destination 360
Reviews of Las Vegas attractions with 360 degree panoramas!

Virtual Tourist
Same as above. Different information format, with user reviews and photos.

BTW, check out the Flamingo pool. My timeshare has pool privileges here.

BTW, you can purchase gift certificates for Las Vegas at Restaurant.com. If you wait until they have their sale, you can buy $25 gift certificates for $5 (normally $10).

Thanks Rich
My globetrotting bro is setting the itinerary so I'll liaise with him and see if I can use these to help in any way

I will probably be back for more advice - bro's been there twice but local knowledge is worth rubies.... if you can excuse a dreadful pun

I'm glad that I could help but 'local' is relative, since I am on the East coast. This will be my 5th or 6th trip to Vegas in 20 years.

Lookout and Onyx are the real locals here. I'm just an expert on being cheap.

Of course, we could all have a Cellar GTG in Vegas. We can book it as a convention, with lectures by TW, UG,...... or maybe not.

Soon, very soon..

Vacation time is almost here. We're making preparations. I've already bought combination water bottles and misters to spray ice water on ourselves.

The 10 day forecast has temps from 96-108. Ouch

We just passed through a week or so ago. It was very hot, but not unbearable because it was dry. Well, apart from the rain.

And I could actually walk in the heat a few years back because all of my sweat evaporated as soon as it hit the skin.

You just have to be careful and hydrate to make up for the sweat which you are losing but don't even notice.

The worst part is the feet. Whatever the temperature is, it's hotter when you are standing/walking on blacktop. I swear I can feel the heat through the soles of my shoes.

Of course, that's why there are pools, air conditioning, and margaritas. Or in my case, ice water and lemonade.

You need shoes with cleats, like snow tires, to minimize ground contact. Works on cold surfaces too.

yes, drink lots of water. hadn't thought about cleats, but we all had shoes with sports soles, so I guess that's why we didn't notice that aspect so much.

have fun

Well, today's our last full day. It's been a great trip so far.

So far, I've seen four shows, The Producers, Mamma Mia, Spamalot, and Bite.

I used Restaurant.com and got a $75 discounted gift certificate to Sapporo, which I think was the best meal I've ever had in Vegas. It's 5 miles west of the strip on Flamingo, so we needed the car that we rented for the first 3 days. We had Kobe beef shooters, which looked like White Castle burgers, but the meat was great! Next time, I'm going to get the $100 gift certificate and go back for Kobe steaks.

We also went for a Lake Meade cruise. I took some nice landscape photos, including the back of Hoover Dam at night.

Today we're going to Fremont Street.

BTW, Bite was fantastic! Topless chorus girls, acrobats, and classic rock music. We all got pictures with some of the girls after the show. Unfortunately, we were all a little tired at midnight when the show got out and couldn't go the after party (public invited) at one of the bars in the casino.

I had some trouble with Linux and my USB ports are not working for storage devices, so I will load photos after I get back.

So far it's been both relaxing and exhilarating.

BTW, we just upgraded the timeshare to a two bedroom suite every year. So it's next year in Miami or Vegas.

Red and I booked another trip to Vegas for the 20-25th of April. Staying one more day than last time so that we can relax a bit more. This trip's goal is to explore stuff off the strip. We'll call NYNY home base again though, becasue we had such a great time there. Going to see CdC's O, and likely one other less pricey show to be determined.

Ordered a 2008 Fodors book off amazon this time. Will be willing to sell it after the 26th of April .

Sounds great Rich. Can't wait to see your pics. Be sure to put them on a web host site so we can see them all.

Do the Lake Meade cruise at least once. It's a little cheesy, but worth it. They have a coupon somewhere.

I can send you the next restaurant.com discount code if you want to buy gift certificates at %50 or more off. Sapporo is no longer on the list, but there's a very nice looking steak place where you can buy $10-100 gift certificates. Of course, you have to spend twice the value of the gift certificate, but it's not hard to spend $100 for two people at a nice steak place. The $50 gift certificate is only $10 with a %50 off code.

Make sure you use suntan lotion. We wouldn't want you to sunburn your assets.

If you post your Vegas pictures, I'll post my Vegas pictures. If you post a Vegas picture of yourself in a thong, I promise not to post a Vegas picture of me in a thong.

Have fun. I hope you leave enough of Vegas standing for me to enjoy in May.

I saw CduS's "Love" at the Mirage in January when I was there. It was awesome. I'd love to have been able to see "O" as well.

I enjoyed Fremont street much more than the Strip, FWIW. More...um...real.

I would love to see Spamalot. I am a huge MP fan from way back. That and the erotic circus ole version show. I saw a special on HBO on it, looks very good.
