Racoons and/or stray cats (saw both) kept ripping up our bags too. A can on wheeled cart with very tight lid worked well to keep them out. Definately talk to the neighbor first, let them know that since you have caught the animal several times now, it has become a problem that you thought needed to be brought to their attention. Check if there are ordinances/laws about animals out of their yards needing to be on leashes or something to that effect. You could suggest that if they feel the need to let their cat out, could they put it on a leash (per the ordinance). Several cats around our neighborhood are on this system. You could spin it with it would be a win win, the cat stays out of your trash, and since it's on a leash, safer because it won't get hit by a car (or stray BBs,) If this doesn't do anything, I say shoot it with a couple paintballs, it will stay out of your stuff, and you can get some practice in for the trick or treaters.

If you're gonna buy one, make sure you get a fully automatic paintball gun. You don't really need it per se, but who cares?

Where is the trash before it's outside?

Around here if you don't like one trash collector you can call the competition. They all give out the big-ass plastic bins in competing colors. I dropped the expensive legacy trash people and their blue Tuesday night bins, and picked up the olive-green Wednesday night bin people.

man, if I only had an MBA, tw would just be a pig in shit, wouldn't he?

it's almost worth going back to school.

the borough has a trash monopoly. once a week tuesday at like 4 am. so i have to take it out monday night when i get home. most of the other neighbors put trash bags out. a few have trash cans that they evidently fill directy with trash, and tie the bags around the handle as payment. you could probably walk through late monday night and stock up on unused bags each week if you wanted to.

i was looking for a good way to broach the topic with my neigbor tw, you dickhole.

don't talk to me like i'm blaming the world for my woes. i'm not mari-stinking-chiko.

my life rocks.

It might not be a bad idea for Jim to get another trash can, but it's not been a problem prior to now, so...like I said before, why throw money (insignificant as it may seem) at the problem?

From what I recall, trash does not need to be in trash cans in the City of Philadelphia...you just have to make sure that recyclables have been removed and sorted properly.

In Philadelphia you just kind of throw trash into the street. Eventually it snows and they come by your house in trash trucks with big snowplows on the front. These trucks push the snow and trash into the Schuylkill River.

LJim, however, lives in one of the civilized areas of the state.

so....i bought a 65 gallon trash can at WalMart this morning. that's wrong on so many levels. first of all, it cost me $48 and doesn't solve the problem 100%. 2nd, I feel like i caved in to tw. (COCK!) and third, i bought the can at WalMArt. gah! i have no spine.

I may go get a paintball gun and take pot shots at that cat just to make myself feel better.

Well on the bright side if you ever need to dispose of a body you've got a suitable container.

No, you did the right thing. Not buying a can because you didn't want to be on tw's side of an argument would have been ghey.

I kill animals for sport and food, and I say leave the damn cat alone. It doesn't know what it's doing wrong -- you're leaving out a buffet for it.

Buy a paintball gun, trap the cat, tape a headshot of TW to it's face, blast away at the just-released cat, release tension.

Everyone wins.
