Choco, that's interesting about the umbilical cord. Over here it's recommended to wash the baby thoroughly (umbilical cord stump and all) from about the 2nd or 3rd day. Max's cord took a fair while to come off. Eva's was off within a couple of days. Not sure why it was so quick, but I'm thinking maybe because she was full term and it was time? Who knows. In any case, I was happy. Those things are ugly! lol

I was 7 when my brother was born. I helped to care for him every day. A few days after his stump fell off, I asked my mom when the "other extra piece" would fall off.
"What extra piece?" she asked. "The wrinkled baggie behind his peepee!" My parents had a good laugh over my rudimentary knowledge of human anatomy.
