It's fun being here. My favorite is to walk to the free museums. I poked my head into the Renwick, across the street from the White House, and checked out an exhibit on crafts made by the interred Japanese during WWII. They scrounged for materials in their camps and made some really cool stuff. Unfortunately, photography is prohibited in that exhibit, so I can't share any of it. But some of them made forges to make things like tin snips and scissors. Others made nice guitars. Pretty stuff too, but I was most interested in the utilitarian stuff they made.

Now why would they do that?

These were personal items on loan from the families. The museum probably didn't want to go through the hassle of getting documented approval from each family. But I'm just guessing.

I'd guess this.

The Philadelphia museum of art allows photography, including flash - but the Mutter museum does not (they sell photos).

This same museum allows photos upstairs where the oil paintings are. I figured it was some sort of intellectual property deal. There's a really cool Christie (the guy who drapes fabric over stuff) exhibit in another museum that also won't allow photos.

Some call it art, but there isn't much fabric involved with the Christie's** I've seen.

**Not exactly NSFW but YMMV.

And finally....
A picture of me on my birthday.

Yes I have spread birthday pics across 3 different threads now (What's For Dinner and Aylesbury, England since you asked!), terrified someone might have missed them

This is the last I promise.
Me arriving home after my birthday dinner. I had jettisoned my false eyelashes at this point - it was just too hot for them to stay sticky.

More importantly, does the rug match the curtains?

You look very bubbly there SG. I admire your spunk to dye your hair with such an attention-grabbing shade, I'd be too afraid of getting fired.
