I always thought Knopfler had a sort of flamenco style, but that's probably not the right terminology.

Well, pretty close, he plays without a pick, and flamenco style is more of really a sound than a method but flamenco is fingerpicked... close enough.

I just love the way Knopfler really opens up the space between the notes in a chord. It's percussive.
