Actually it is a Gurkha Khukuri given to my dad by the 9th Regiment Gurkhas while he was in Chungking with MI9 in 1946.

The boomerang effect is one of the myths of the Kukuri. The second one is that for every time a Gurkah removes his knife from the scabbard he must first cut his own finger and draw blood. Methinks they wouldn't have very usable hands if they did that!
