You nailed it Bruce.
As a non-dog-lover I couldn't work out why the chap looked so cute to me. But I can see he works completely as an illustration for a child's best friend. And very kissable (FTR, I have loved individual dogs, even some bigguns, I'm just not sold on dogs as an animal).

My dog Vesta is a yellow lab and about 9 years old. But she is still a puppy! Her favorite toy is a KONG thing we bought her and put some braided rope through the hole in the center. She likes to have make believe battles with it out on the lawn after dinner.

After the play time she likes to lie on the lawn watching the neighbors walk by. All in all she is a very friendly and mellow dog. She is my best friend and lived with me while I took care of my parents in their last years. She sleeps at the foot of my bed and sometimes when I get up to got to the pee at night I stop by and sit with her and pet her. She looks at me like, "What the Fuck? It's 3am now go back to bed!"

She looks like a great dog chris! I love those action shots, looks like a legendary battle.
SG, I don't know how much experience you've had with dogs, but the big ones are usually the sweetest, and least likely to bite you when you get near their "person." That said caution doesn't hurt, fear/panic can cause a problem though.
