Premier League(England) / Serie A(Italy) / Primera Division(Spain)

This is the point in time where one can start making money on European Soccer.
The Champions league is coming down to its end.
Teams involved in the competition, when competing in their own leagues usually concentrate on staying healthy, and taking it easy.
A win is not a must.
So I'll bring forth teams who have proven throughout history that they have their priorities straight.

Chelsea has little chance and Milan has no chance of taking their leagues so their hopes are all pinned on the CL. Milan plays arsenal 72 hours later so I expect they will rest their top players. Good calls there.

Inter and Real Madrid can't afford to slip up in their leagues so the game will still be a priority for them, I'd expect them to pull out a result. They'll each rest key players but they'll still have enough in them I think.

I recall Real Madrid in this exact predicament a few years back.
Real Madrid lost 0-2 at home against Valladolid, proving that they had absolutely no interest in anything but the Champions league.

Inter Milan is part of the Campionato.
The Italian teams priorities are being governed by people on a political level.
A very proud people those Italians are.
All that aside... Inter is under no threat.
A draw seems as likely as any other in this particular game in Naples

I went 50% with the AC Milan's tie, Inter Milan loss and Sevilla's Loss.
Here are the results from domestic leagues of the 16 teams competing in the Champions league:

Napoli 1 - 0 Inter Milan
AS Roma 4 - 0 Parma
AC Milan 1 - 1 Lazio
Atletico Madrid 4 - 2 Barcelona
Deportivo La Coruna 2 - 1 Sevilla
Recreativo Huelva 2 - 3 Real Madrid
Lille 0 - 1 Lyon
Schalke 0 - 1 Bayern Munich
Bolton W. 1 - 3 Liverpool
West Ham U. 0 - 4 Chelsea
Arsenal 1 - 1 Aston Villa
Fulham 0 - 3 Manchester U.
Celtic 2 - 1 Inverness C.T.
Boavista 0 - 0 FC Porto
Olympiakos Piraeus 1 - 1 Asteras Tripolis
Ankaragucu 0 - 0 Fenerbahce

7 wins out of 16 games from the elite of Europe is the result of teams looking at the Champions league.
IMO, the teams in red or orange, are the teams that have their priorities straight this week.

UEFA Champions League

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

AC Milan vs Arsenal

I've already talked about this match-up in this thread.
The Italians will progress.
The only scenario with that happening other than an AC Milan is a 0-0 draw. A result that is very common in Milan's history.

Bet on the AC Milan Win = 2.15
Back it up with a small wager on the score ending 0-0 = 6.50

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Sevilla vs Fernebarche

Perfect scenario after the 1st matchup, a simple 1-0 win for the Spanish will do.

Bet on Sevilla = 1.40

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Chelsea vs Olympiacos

I've been having an argument all week about this one.
Its a joke in my eyes.

Bet on Chelsea = 1.28

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Man Utd vs Lyonnais

This is a long shot as Utd have the advantage in England.
I can't look past the price in this one.

Bet on the draw = 4.50
Bet on the Lyonnais win = 9.00

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Real Madrid vs Roma

I like Roma to go through against Real Madrid.
But I especially like the prices on the Italians

Bet on the draw = 4.50
Bet on the Roma win = 9.00

NOT THIS TIME! Arsenal takes it 2-0!

Ouch! I don't know what hurts me more, Lyon's loss(Fan), or AC Milan's loss($$$).
Sevilla's win certainly didn't win me over in either category.

However Chelsea and Roma can save my week economically.

UEFA CUP

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Anderlecht(Belgium) vs Bayern Munich(Germany)

Bayern is one of the best teams left in the UEFA cup.
In this particular game though, you can't expect the Germans to win against such a team as Anderlecht.
The Germans should find success in a draw if they can pull it off.

Bet on the draw = 3.50
Bet on the Anderlecht win = 5.00

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Totenham(England) vs PSV(Holland)

The winner of this 2 leg match-up will be a serious contender for winning this Uefa Cup.
PSV is easily the greatest football school in the world raising the talent that gets spread around Europe.
I give the dutch the edge.
Based on price, I'm wagering on them getting a positive result in England.

Bet on the draw = 3.30
Bet on the PSV win = 5.00

So PSV won (5.00)
And Bayern Won big.

Those two teams IMO, are the two elite teams remaining in this UEFA cup.
I'd be suprised if a team other than one of them wins it.

After persistant requests, I'm going to add some NHL picks, although they are generally, highly unpredictable.
Motives are hard to determine.
Those who place money on those particular teams who need to win, consistently lose money.
The reason, is that those teams who seem to need to win, have opposite motives.
In the NHL, all factors are considered when positioning teams for the playoffs and for the upcoming draft.

Washington Capitols vs Pittsburgh Penguins

This is the game that will indicate wether or not the Capitols are aiming at this year or not.
Based on the weak Eastern conference, I can only assume that the forces that run this Washington team, view this year as a possibility.
This game is certainly a preview of Eastern conference finals to come in the next couple years.

The Capitols have to win this home game!

Bet on the Capitols = 1.85

Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche

Mr assist is back!
Watch!

Bet on the Avalanche = 2.10

Mr. Assist did not play.
With Foote injured as well, Colorado's season can come to an end.
Sakic is great, but it would have been different with Forsberg.

With Washington, I think its for the best that they don't enter this years playoffs.
The Capitols will make the Playoffs next year, and the year after that, they are contenders along with the Penguins for representing the East in the Stanley Cup. It will be a very exciting time in Washington at the end of this decade!

I hear many people assume that the LA Kings are the worst team in hockey. This is far from reality.
They are simply still in the stage of building......
Best way to build? ----> Finish in last place! Draft the ace.
Then do it again, and if neccesary... one more time, and you're in the Stanley Cup.
Otherwise you're a retarded team like the Leafs, hovering under par for eternity.

This is around the time, where most of the elite teams decide to rest a little and play carefully as to remain healthy.
Tough teams don't play tough.
Fast teams, don't skate so fast .....its rest time.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Anaheim Ducks @ Phoinex Coyotes

The Stanley Cup Champions are clearly the team to beat in the NHL.
I don't think Anaheim wants to play against San Jose in the first round of the play-offs.
They will clearly look to avoid them.
Anaheim winning, does not help them achieve that.
Phoinex is capable, despite looking in from a far distance, of making the play-offs. It looks like they might have to win this one in order for hope to remain.

Bet on the Coyotes = 2.20

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Chicago Blackhawks @ Detroit Red Wings

Here's a chance for Detroit to rest.

Here are the teams that Detroit could possibly match-up against in the first round of the play-offs
6. Calgary 80
7. Colorado 80
8. Vancouver 78
9. Nashville 78
10. Phoenix 73
11. Chicago 73

I don't think Detroit cares about who they face out of these teams.
Its resting time.

On the othe hand, Chicago's team is very exciting!
Now there's a team to watch for the future!

Bet on the Blackhawks = 2.50

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

New Jersey Devils @ Montreal Canadiens

At the start of the season, one thing was very obvious.
The Canadiens have the greatest skaters in the NHL.
Every team they play, they outskate their opponents.
This is a rivalry, and positioning for both teams overide any resting from either side.
In this case, the Canadiens should win overtaking the Devils for 1st place in the East, as they are clearly superior.

Bet on the Canadiens = 1.70

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

San Jose Sharks @ Nashville predators

The San Jose Sharks would like to avoid plaing against the Anaheim Ducks in the first round of the play-offs.... there is no doubt about that.
They can easily achieve this, by simply overtaking Dallas in first place in their division.
This would require San Jose to win more games than Dallas.
No resting for San Jose here.

Bet on the Sharks = 1.65

So WHIP, what you think of the upcoming baseball season? Think the NY Yankees can pull out of their slump to battle all the way to the World Series? Or will the Red Sox become white hot?

2008-2009

American League
*~*~*~*~*~*~*

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

East

Its evident that both the Yankees and the Red Sox have weaker line-ups than last year.
However, both Bull-pens look very interesting and rich.
Boston's Outfielder Ellsbury will be very interesting to watch.
All eyes will be on Yankees RP Chamberlain!

Toronto is not looking like their improving... the only thing that brings them closer is the weakening of the two greater teams.
The one and only team in this division that will improve is the Tampa Bay Devil Rays .
Kazmir and Shields make up a great 1-2. and the bullpen is actually stronger:
T. Percival (Closer)
A. Reyes <<----This guy is an ace
G. Glover
D. Wheeler <<----this #4 shows how deep this bullpen is.
Upton, Pena and Crawford, make this team actually capable of competing for top spot in this division.... if not this year, then the next, and furthermore. How interesting it will look with Tampa Bay above Boston in this division.

Bet on Tampa Bay = 67.00 (67/1)

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Central

Miguel Cabrera was a huge addition to Detroit, and yes,
Verlander is a year older. Zumaya holds up the bullpen.
A lot of people see this team as the best team in baseball, i do not.
This division still holds the Clevland Indians who are as strong as they were last year. The White Sox made some key improvments, that will put some serious runs up on the scoreboard. The Bullpen however does not look as promising.
Things are very exciting in Minnesota as well, despite loosing Johan.
That bullpen is cetainly one to envy.
Last but not least, the Kansas City Royals. Improved, no doubt, but their gonna need to improve a lot more in the years to come if they wanna compete with the teams in their division.

Detroit : 1.72
Clevland : 2.62
Chicago : 10.00
Minnesota : 13.00
Kansa City : 51.00

Bet what you will, I will avoid this division at this time.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

West

Felix Hernandez, Bedard and Putz are 3 of the absolute elite pitchers in the game, the only reason Seattle can't win this division is its lack of depth, both in the field, and in its pitching staff.
The Angels are too rich in players.
Escobar, Lackey, Jered Weaver, Saunders, Garland and Santana are their Starters ....they will also hold a luxury of trading one of them for a bat when the time comes if needed.... the certainly won't need an Outfielder though. Vladimir Guerrero, Torri Hunter, Gary Mathews Jr., Garret Andersons(DH), Reggie Willits and Rivera make up the richest outfield in baseball.
Lets not forget the fastest throwing closer in the game, RP Fransisco Rodriguez.
Mr.Shields
will be setting him up, and Spier for the 7th.
The team is elite and World series prone.
Are the summer time blues innevitable for the Texas Rangers?
Maybe they should move the franchise.
At the pit of this division and baseball, we find the Oakland A's.

Bet on the LA Angels = 1.40

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
East

The New York Mets are the best team in baseball IMO.
They would be listed by me, as the favorites even if they hadn't picked up Johan Santana.
I've consistently made money of Johan's losses these past 2 years, but with the Mets, and in the National league, things look quite different.

Bet on the Mets = 1.47

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I'm not even gonna go into the rest of the teams in the National league as I believe that this race has already been won.

National league pennant

Bet on the New York Mets = 3.75

American League Pennant

Bet on the LA Angels = 5.50

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

World Series

Bet on the New York Mets = 8.00
Bet on the LA Angels = 10.00

Too late to give the Werder Bremen win over Rangers in the Uefa Cup.
They are simply superior, and at home.

NHL
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Ottawa Senators @ Montreal Canadiens

Montreal seems to be the best team in the Eastern Conference.
This win, again, will put them all alone in 1st place.
The team is more than it seems.
Its not just the skating.
The defence... all 3 lines are full of starters.
Ottawa is less than Montreal as a whole.

Bet on the Canadiens = 1.65

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Vancouver Canucks @ Phoinex Coyotes

There are huge differences between these two teams at this time.
Phoinex is a play-off calibure team while Vancouver is simply bad.
I'd be very suprised if this game isn't over by mid 2nd period.

Bet on the Coyotes = 1.85
