Turns out Katia took the right-most option and is expected to arrive at the UK as a post-tropical storm in a couple of days.

I can't find th elink but years ago I saw a page which amassed the data on tornados and showed that, at lesat in the USA, tornados occur in proportion to the degree of religious fundamentalism in an area.

The prediction was for 16 named storms. Although late, Hurricane Rina has formed in the Caribbean Sea off the Yucatan peninsula. Since the Gulf is now cool, this hurricane is not expected to threaten any US mainland states. But it does mean the predictors got it wrong half a year ago - by one storm.
