Hey Fred by ReHaB

Nicoderm patch and a Marlboro red
Wild turkey out the bottle gauz covers where the wrists bled
Begged and pled and fled rockin' a hospital gown brain dead
Hitched a ride with a guy named Fred

Hey Fred, fuck that rehab shit
Cause I don't know if I want peace that bad
Seems that I'm so comfortable, uncomfortable and sad
But everybody else gets so damn mad

Objects in the mirror are closere than they apprear
I look half dead from here and I need bread for beer
There probably discovering my empty bed about now
No turning back, oh my God
I turn up the radio, rain smackin' the window
I'm the Mario inside the super Nintendo
Can't hide when your sick
And the chemicals are holding the joystick

Hey Fred, fuck that rehab shit
Cause I don't know if I want peace that bad
Seems that I'm so comfortable, uncomfortable and sad
But everybody else gets so damn mad

Vegitation euforic hope, I'm graspin
Walkin' out the mathadone clinic
Fuck it, I'm relasin'
Geeked up on more snow than Aspen
Lookin' for fudge ripple I got my rig
Life is good, oh how you fig
Pump up my dose to tripple
Main line noddin' out fallin' on my spine
CC's and cheap wine back to the land of the blind
Rewind, opium dens knockin' out brain cells
In the tens of thousands
Hookers and junkie hens and shitty housin
How arousing, day siz in the desert
On a horse with no name
Gradual suicide but whose to blame
I guess it's nobody's fault, I'm just lame
Nothin' stops cause if I'm headed back to Detox
I'm drinkin' Clorox

Hey Fred, fuck that rehab shit
Cause I don't know if I want peace that bad
Seems that I'm so comfortable, uncomfortable and sad
But everybody else gets so damn mad

Quick Fred floor it, I gotta get away
Hands me a J said it'll be okay
Like an old friend is the smell and the taste
You know Fred I just couldn't take that place

Hey Fred, fuck that rehab shit
Cause I don't know if I want peace that bad
Seems that I'm so comfortable, uncomfortable and sad
But everybody else gets so damn mad

It was 1989 my thoughts were short my hair was long
Caught somewhere between a boy and man
She was seventeen and she was far from in between
It was summertime in northern Michigan

Splashing through the sand bar talking by the campfire
It's the simple things in life, like when and where
We didn't have no internet but man I never will forget
The way the moonlight shined upon her hair
...

Catching Walleye from the dock watching the waves roll off the rocks
She'll forever hold a spot inside my soul
We'd blister in the sun we couldn't wait for night to come
To hit that sand and play some rock and roll
...

Now nothing seems as strange as when the leaves begin to change
Or how we thought those days would never end
Sometimes I'll hear that song and I'll start to sing along
And think man I'd love to see that girl again

~Kid Rock "All Summer Long"

I was justified when I was five
Raising cane, I spit in your eye
Times are changing, now the poor get fat
But the fever's gonna catch you when the bitch gets back

Eat meat on Friday that's alright
Even like steak on a Saturday night
I can bitch the best at your social do's
I get high in the evening sniffing pots of glue

I'm a bitch, I'm a bitch
Oh the bitch is back
Stone cold sober as a matter of fact
I can bitch, I can bitch
`Cause I'm better than you
It's the way that I move
The things that I do

I entertain by picking brains
Sell my soul by dropping names
I don't like those, my God, what's that
Oh it's full of nasty habits when the bitch gets back

Old pirates, yes, they rob I;
Sold I to the merchant ships,
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit.
But my hand was made strong
By the 'and of the Almighty.
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly.
Won't you help to sing
This songs of freedom
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look? Ooh!
Some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fullfil the book.

Won't you help to sing
This songs of freedom-
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;

Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it's just a part of it:

We were all into Marley in college, of course. My roomie and I were listening to a "cassette" tape one time (us old ladies remember cassettes) and we decided it was actually "The Damn Chim Song." Chim was a wily monkey who was always taking stuff out of our fridge, in our version, and we'd go "Damn, Chim." That was his song. Great memories.

My my my it’s a beautiful world
I like swimming in the sea
I like to go out beyond the white breakers
Where a man can still be free (or a woman if you are one)
I like swimming in the sea.

My my my it’s a beautiful world
I like drinking Irish tea
With a little bit of lapsang souchong
I like making my own tea.

My my my it’s a beautiful world
I like driving in my car
Roll the top down sometimes I travel quite far
Drive to the ocean stare up at the stars
I like driving in my car

All around is anger automatic guns
It’s death in large numbers no respect for women or our little ones
I tried talking to Jesus but He just put me on hold
Said He’d been swamped by calls this week
And He couldn’t shake His cold

And still this emptiness persists
Perhaps this is as good as it gets
When you’ve given up the drink and those nasty cigarettes
Now I leave the party early at least with no regrets
I watch the sun as it comes up I watch it as it sets
Yeah this is as good as it gets.

My my my it’s a beautiful world
I like sleeping with Marie
She is one sexy girl full of mystery
She says she doesn’t love me but she likes my company
For now that’s good enough for me

Elvis Hitler - Don't Push Me
------------------------------------
I was talking to my neighbor's dog
His wisdom set me free
"Go out and have some fun," he said
"Go on a killing spree."
I never was a good boy
Don't say my prayers at night
I stole my daddy's shotgun
I took my best friend's bike

Don't push me, I'm crazy, and I've got a gun

There's a dealer not far from here
I think I'll get real bombed
I'm going to buy some for my sister
I'm going to buy some for my mom
Look at me, I've got it made
I've got a hostage and a hand grenade
Take me alive or take me dead
Just put a bullet through my head

Don't push me, I'm crazy, and I've got a gun

It's a world full of hatred
In which we live today
Hostage taking maniacs
Kill while people pray
That the violence and the mayhem
Will cease to exist
I never thought I'd see the day
When things would come to this

--------------------------------------

There are some days I just.....

Tin Man
America

Sometimes late when things are real and people share the gift of gab between themselves
Some are quick to take the bait and catch the perfect prize that waits among the shelves

But Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man
That he didn't, didn't already have
And cause never was the reason for the evening
Or the tropic of Sir Galahad
So please believe in me

When I say I'm spinning round, round, round, round
Smoke glass stain bright color
Image going down, down, down, down
Soapsuds green like bubbles

Oh, Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man
That he didn't, didn't already have
And cause never was the reason for the evening
Or the tropic of Sir Galahad

So please believe in me
When I say I'm spinning round, round, round, round
Smoke glass stain bright color
Image going down, down, down, down
Soapsuds green like bubbles

No, Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man
That he didn't, didn't already have
And cause never was the reason for the evening
Or the tropic of Sir Galahad

So please believe in me

Summer side of life

He came down through fields of green
On the summer side of life
His love was ripe

There were no illusions
On the summer side of life
Only tenderness

And if you saw him now
You'd wonder why he would cry
The whole day long

There was young girls everywhere
On the summer side of life
They talked all night

To the young men that they knew
On the summer side of life
Goin' off to fight

And if you saw them now
You'd wonder why they would cry
The whole day long

He came down through fields of green
On the summer side of life
He prayed all night

Then he walked into a house
Where love had been misplaced
His chance to waste

And if you saw him now
You'd wonder why he would cry
The whole day long

And if you saw him now
You'd wonder why

And if you saw him now
You'd wonder why

And if you saw him now
You'd wonder why

Beginnings
--Chicago Transit Authority

When I'm with you, it doesn't matter where we are,
Or what we're doing. I'm with you, that's all that matters.
Time passes much too quickly when we're together laughing.
I wish I could sing it to you, oh no,
I wish I could sing it to you.
Mostly I'm silent.
Never think about words to say.
When I kiss you, I feel a thousand different feelings.
The color of chills all over my body.
And when I feel them, I quickly try to decide which one
I should try to put into words, oh no,
Try to put into words.
Mostly I'm silent.
Only the beginning of what I want to feel forever.
Only the beginning. Only just the start.
I've got to get you into my life.
Got to get you next to me.
Only the beginning. Only just the start.

Reminds me of that classic:

New Beginnings
--Derek Stevens

New beginnings
New beginnings
New beginnings
New beginnings

Of course, you probable remember Derek from his big hit:

Choppin' Broccoli

There's a lady I know
If I didn't know her
She'd be the lady I didn't know.

And my lady, she went downtown
She bought some broccoli
She brought it home.

She's chopping broccoli
Chopping broccoli
Chopping broccoli
Chopping broccoli

She's chopping broccoli
She's chopping broccoli
She's chop.. ooh!
She's chopping broccola-ah-ie!

Forty Six and 2... Tool.

My shadow's
shedding skin and
I've been picking
Scabs again.
I'm down
Digging through
My old muscles
Looking for a clue.

I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own confused
And insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in.
I wanna feel the changes coming down.
I wanna know what I've been hiding in

My shadow.
Change is coming through my shadow.
My shadow's shedding skin
I've been picking
My scabs again.

I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic
And insecure delusions.

I wanna feel the change consume me,
Feel the outside turning in.
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and
Cleansing I've endured within

My shadow
Change is coming.
Now is my time.
Listen to my muscle memory.
Contemplate what I've been clinging to.
Forty-six and two ahead of me.

I choose to live and to
Grow, take and give and to
Move, learn and love and to
Cry, kill and die and to
Be paranoid and to
Lie, hate and fear and to
Do what it takes to move through.

I choose to live and to
Lie, kill and give and to
Die, learn and love and to
Do what it takes to step through.

See my shadow changing,
Stretching up and over me.
Soften this old armor.
Hoping I can clear the way
By stepping through my shadow,
Coming out the other side.
Step into the shadow.
Forty six and two are just ahead of me.

Windows are Rolled Down

Look up child
The world is born
Shoe's untied
And your soles are worn

Windows are rolled down
Sun is setting high
Windows are rolled down
I'm fixin' to die

Corn rows have companion feel
This rocky road and this steering wheel
Who do you call to ease your pain
I hope for you to get through this rain

Windows are rolled down
Moon is hanging low
Windows are rolled down
Think it's time for me to go hey-ay-ay-a...-ay

Is it what you dreamed it'd be
Are you locked up in this fantasy
Oh this miles that have
torn us apart
My new found faith
and my broken heart

Windows are rolled down
Sun is rising high
Windows are rolled down
Feel that wind rushing by hey-ay-ay-a...

Windows are rolled down

Fred Jones was worn out from caring for his often
screaming and crying wife during the day, but
he couldn't sleep at night for fear that she,
in a stupor from the drugs that didn't
ease the pain, would set the house ablaze
with a cigarette
