7/19/2002: Elephant play

It's rough being an elephant. Here you are, just a little baby, born two months ago, and when you meet your father for the very first time, he sticks his tusk into your ribs and tosses you across the yard.

We're told that dad Maxi is not trying to injure his baby Chandra, but that Mom Indi is "shouting her protest" on the right there, so I'm not sure how the elephant family dynamic really works. Seems kinda dysfunctional. In any case, all this is happening at the Zurich zoo, and it's a fine Friday image.

I swear it looks like some sort of promo shot for an elephant sitcom...

Spare the tusk, spoil the child.

I like how all four of it's feet are off the ground. That's a nice touch.
