decisions decisions

How do you make decisions?

I've always considered myself the analytical type, but i don;t know why. As I think back, many of my decisions were gut-based. I have to say that sometimes, i just go with my instincts, and then rationalize my decision to fool myself into thinking that i made the choice logically and rationally. I don;t think i've made many bad decisions this way, but my mind tells me that i should be objective and logical when faced with a fork in the road. On the other hand, I look down at my gut, which happens to be doing very well for itself, and over the last 12 years or so, has demonstrated steady growth and development, while my brain, being surrounded almost entirely by bone, doesn't seem to have grown very much at all.

so I ask you; do you ponder or plunge?

Ponder.

I ponder way the hell too much. That's probably why I'm chronically depressed. Ya think?

Ponder and plunge at various times. Success rates are about equal.

When in doubt, cast runes or read tarot.

Go with my first impression and then revise as necessary.

Does the answer involve heavy reliance on emotional considerations first, and rational considerations second?

I dither for a long time, then plunge swiftly.

Possibly not a very good way to make decisions.

Wolf's suggestion is a good one. A bag of runes or a deck of cards, and some basic familiarity with what they mean, and you've got yourself a dandy home divination set.

It is also helpful if you have a reasonably good understanding of yourself, though. Otherwise, you might as well get a Ouija board and call up some teenage girls to help you use it.

El, bad, bad, bad.

I hate cleaning up after ugly Ouija board accidents and possessions.

Gives me chills even thinking about it.

Ouija boards are thought to draw on outside sources for their functionality, thus exposing one to the possibilities of various nefarious energies and entities screwing with you. Tarot and runes derive their meanings from within, meaning you can only get fucked up by them if you were pretty much fucked up to begin with.
