Next semester...

I just realised, the Summer break is over halfway through. I'm really looking forward to being back at Uni, I miss having that structure to my week. But that's not why I'm posting:P

I was checking through the module notes for the modules I am starting in Sept. It's got me all fired up and eager to start. I'm quite excited about the topics covered, and the room there'll be for independant research.

[history nerd] How cool does this sound? This is one of three modules which span the first semester:

Quote:
Fraternity, Skill and the Politics of Labour, 1660-1870
Quote:
Syllabus
Introduction; the history of work and the culture of the workplace; wage earners' organisations in medieval and early modern England; fraternity in the long eighteenth century Britain - gilds, freemasonry and friendly societies; property in skill and gender relations in the age of manufactures; labour and unrest circa 1789-1824; State regulation of fraternal organisations; the idea of general unionism; industrialisation, trade unionism and class; the strike wave of 1842; case studies (e.g. ceramics, iron and coal miners; engineers; cotton; woollens and worsted; the Sheffield metal trades; 'the Tolpuddle Martyrs'); trade unionism and social stability.
[/history nerd]

[edit] actually, I should have put this in the What's making you happy thread. Oh well. I'm a little inebriated and quite excited about the stuff I'll be getting into next month

What is there coming up in your life that you feel excited about? (I realise that I've just laid down a double entendre minefield)

*smiles* It's funny. When you're in the throes of it and up to your neck in revision and exams you want nothing more than the Summer to start. Doesn't take long before youwant to be back into it.

9 days? When do you start you lucky bastard?

I want to go back to see my friends mostly and because campus life is a hell of a lot more fun than my life right now.

I move into my house with 4 other friends the 20th and classes start the 22nd.

And I agree entirely with your second sentence. Here, here.

Seriously. I am more excited than I ever was to start school, even more excited than last year going to college for the first time. I only got 2 and a half hours of sleep tonite and I'm fine because I'm anticipating it so much. In 5 days I'll be back at the campus I so thoroughly enjoy, indulging in friends, freedom and FUN. I'm even looking forward to classes (sorta) because now it is not so much general education but my major classes. 5 days, boys and girls. Cannot wait.
