Thanks LabRat for your tips. Having only completed one 5K in my life, I would like to sign up for one again, as well as some 10K to work up to a half-marathon. There's also a difference between running to train and running in the "marathon" environment. The latter gets me so much more pumped up.
I have a pair of Saucony's right now that I LOVE and have been using (great shoes, comfortable, no injuries), but after reading your post I realised that I have had them (and worn them) for 4 years if not more. They are still great, but I hear you need new running shoes every certain number of months, so I will be looking for a new pair here soon. Most of my running is outdoors. Any advice you can give for a training plan would be awesome and greatly appreciated. I don't mind it being quite gradual as I do not seem to be built for endurance activities (one reason why I want to actually complete a half-marathon!) |
