I chose the character Ginko from the anime Mushi-shi. I must have been feeling rich, because I'm at the hairdresser having my wig styled. WTF?



Ok, how do I look? (Just lie if you feel the need.)



Parking downtown is a giant expensive hassle. Let's just take a care we can drop off (in a tiny spot).

Once we arrived, I was startstruck by the appearance of one of my favorite characters, Columbia, from [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rocky_Horror_Picture_Show]The Rocky Horror Picture Show{/url]! Turns out, she's a cast member of the Vicarious Theater Company that performs RHPS regularly. We've gone to the Muppet Edition and the BDSM Edition (it's been awhile...



Oh, yeah. SonofV. Right, right. He's dressed up this year as Beat from Jet Set Radio Future. He turned out pretty cool!



I met Macklemore too!

Rock on Beat! They're functional headphones with the headband and external ear covers that light up. I embellished them with the antennae. They really look good in the dark.




Beat's a skater, and a punk at that. Boy, he caught hell regularly for his skates, which were a no-no at the con. We crippled them with the wood block, but The Man was a dick about it several times.



Suprise, surprise, there's a Glomp game going on. Hug, hug.

I played the game a little, but I liked taking pictures more.



And when I tired of that, I retired to the AMV theater, where what to my wondering eyes should appear, but Ginko. Nice, he looks good, I like his backpack better than mine.

2014
A new year for cosplay and a new low level of achievement for me.


Booker DeWitt from BioShock. Hector in the middle there, Iron Man. The mug on the right? I have no idea. I was trying for something specific, I have on a striped "vest" that used to be a shirt, minus the sleeves. I was specifically trying for a striped vest. Beyond that, dunno. My badge reads my name. I don't recognize the character. Maybe I'm undercover. Maybe I didn't try very hard. Maybe I was abducted by aliens the week before the con. I don't remember.

He looks like he could casually kill a monster, don'cha think?


Part of the fun is seeing other people in costumes of characters and shows you like. I like Spirited Away. The little Soot Sprites are cute in the story and this little kid *killed* it. Can I take a picture with you? (after I checked with her parents.) Sure! and she promptly plopped down on the floor and pulled the costume over her head. Nailed it!



I've seen a lot of weird stuff at SakuraCon. This qualifies.



This isn't weird, it's just a couple characters from a weird (really weird) anime, FLCL. You've been warned. This is Haruko Haruhara and Canti. Just watch it.

2015
I definitely got into SakuraCon this year. You've heard of Bronies, yeah? Now you're hearing *from* one.


This year I got in touch with my inner Pinkie Pie.

Ah, Sakura-Con



This time of year makes us happy and excited. I'm wearing the hat that became the base of teh wig I made, but I can't tell you what's going on with SonofV's eye makeup. Smoky eye gone horribly wrong? Dunno.



Pinkie Pie has a pet, that means I have a prop. His name is Gummy, he's a toothless alligator (question, Gummy's a toothless, obligate carnivore--does that mean Pinkie Pie chews his meat for him?) Anyway, here is the before shot.



And here he is after. I added a pink mouth, with some magnets inside to let him clamp his mouth shut, and some dazzling purple eyes. He wore a leash at SakuraCon and he was a big hit.

I love Gummy and SonofV/Dante.



The wig was another story. Gawd, what a hassle. This is the finished product, cause I quit.



I got to the con and in the exhibition hall I found I could have bought a cap/wig. Lesson learned, filed that away for laterz.

Also, I found I wasn't the only one with pink hair. In the exhibition hall were cute little kids with pink hair and protective mothers and fathers.



And orange hair wearers who needed no protection.
