Just Passing By

Have you ever passed by a bar or restaurant for months or years and kept telling yourself you would stop in someday?

Before it burnt down, I stopped into a place called the Red Eye Tavern that I had passed by for years. Inside was wood floors and a wooden bar that dated back to the 1800's.

There are a few small eateries on 322 between Route 1 and I-95. I just happened across a coupon for one of them that has always stood out, so this weekend I will stop in to Wally's Weiner World.

The odd thing about this is that there are two hot dog joints just a few miles from each other on 322. I can't remember that last time I saw a hot dog stand that wasn't near the shore. Wally's is interesting because it's not in a strip mall but sitting in a two business lot across from the golf course. It looks like the places that you would find on the Black Horse Pike on the way to Atlantic City.

So, does anyone else have someplace they've been meaning to check out?

There used to be this bar at the southern end of St. Louis called County Line Lounge. It looked like a seedy place, and it was in a seedy neighborhood...but I kept telling myself I was gonna go in there eventually. My brother and I were planning to visit it as part of our dive bar chronicles this year.

Sadly, it closed up shop about a month ago. My fault for procrastinating.

Failing to stop at bars has never been my m.o.
