Even if the heroic forces of humanity's latent good nature step in and save us from the destructive decisions that those in power promise they intend to make, is there still not an important function in voicing your objection to said destruction decisions and their consequences?

It seems to me that if negative consequences do come about, that, "Dang, I thought for sure things were going to, somehow, turn out okay" isn't going to be a good feeling.

Maybe...in order for good things to happen, we have to be vigilant against bad things? Or, is the world, by default, a utopian paradise full of unicorns and rainbows, and no effort is required, we just coast along and cross our fingers?
