Whenever a recording of Sadler's The Ballad of the Green Beret was played over the public address system at Camp Mackall, Special Forces candidates in the Q course were required to drop down and do pushups until the song was stopped. We could be down anywhere from just a couple lines of the first verse to the song's entire runtime. I never owned a copy of it. |
