I have a couple mitigating circumstances here.

When I'm drinking in the house, I don't have this problem. I have a few dedicated cocktail glasses, made of glass, and they're all fine. Easy to wash, easy to rinse. But sometimes I have some whiskey when I'm outside and I *strongly* prefer plastic in those situations. It's an iron rule, if you'll pardon the pun, for sipping while soaking, but even when I'm working in the yard I prefer plastic, it's just harder to break. I have a couple preferred plastic vessels I drink from ... they all tasted like plastic that day.

OK UNIVERSE I'LL STOP DRINKING TODAY. FUCK YOU BACK.

....

Meanwhile.... I've boiled the plastic cups and they're... ok? but I might have to just retire them and get new ones. They're not super special, they don't have a lot of emotional significance, I'm just really, really cheap. And lazy. Lazy and cheap. ! Which also means I drink more inside, so, glass, so, I can add procrastination to the list.

CHEERS!

If you have any form of swimming pool, NO GLASS is a iron rule.

Last night, a dram of Dalwhinnie.

Dalwhinnie is... kind of light. Not a big smoky thunderer.

BBQ'ed some home grown Pork Butt Steaks last night.
They were delicious and fully complimented by a bottle of 1991 Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Vieux Telegraphe.
This Rhone wine is usually a mostly Grenache blend.
It had a good cork and a rich clean nose. It was smooth and drinkable, probably the best of the old reds I am slowly discovering in my "cellar."
I was first introduced to this appellation by a friend of my mother's when I was in college. He would order it whenever he saw it on a wine list and I remember all as very good.
This was my only bottle and I bought it from its importer, the wonderfully named Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant in Berkeley, Cal.
Looking on line this morning turned prices for this wine at $75-$100, with 1990's about twice that.
I hope it is as good today.
