Reminds me of my daily commute.
That's really fun to watch though. |

I muted the video at about thirty seconds in. Pretty sure I would have been full on insane by the minute mark. At three minutes I got bored and quit.
My life is pretty empty, and I'm pretty easy to entertain, but, I can't even imagine the emptiness that resulted in this marble machine. Different strokes, I guess. It is definitely an achievement, though.

But for some reason I enjoy that sort of thing. Back as a boy, I went to the Griffith Observatory in L.A. on a school outing, where there was a bunch of displays with ball bearings bouncing onto the tops of metal posts cut off at various angles. ... ending with the balls bouncing into a hole in the wall of the display. Strange how things are remembered after 7 decades or more. When we moved into our house, I thought about doing that sort of thing based on a tennis ball floating up a tube of water to the top of a "cliff" above our house, and then rolling down a track in and about the tree tops and hillside of our 2 acres of woods, etc. But then... never did it. |

Anyone remember the mechanized guard dog things in Neal Stephenson's Snowcrash? That book had a shockingly accurate prediction of the existence and structure of YouTube as well.

Sea lions have invaded boat docks and ramps along the Pacific coast.
Orca's (killer whales) eat sea lions. So why not a fake orca to scare away the sea lions ? But then maybe the sea lions in Astoria, OR have the last laugh. |

A unique rig. "Wood saw video"
The one thing that strikes me as odd is that he pushes the saw forward to make a cut and then pulls it back to make the next one. Circular saw blades are designed to go one way. You feed stock into the curve of the teeth of the blade, if you do the opposite the saw wants to pull into the stock which will usually dull the blade and/or stall the motor. |
